Lydia Love Petals--ONE DAY LEFT! Hurry!!

Dear Sweet Kay Bratt , author and adoption advocate, offered to do a giveaway of one of my Lydia Love dolls on her blog! Since I would love everyone to know about Lydia Love I jumped at the chance to get the word out about her. (Sorry I have not gotten this posted about this here sooner, it has been CRAZY busy with Brayden's 9th birthday, end of the year concerts and bball games, as well as the boys being home from school all day for summer vacation.) But, the good thing is that you can hope right over there and do it right now and have a chance at Lydia Love Petals OR  Kay's newest e-book as a second prize!

If you have not seen the link to the GIVEAWAY here it is:

You ONLY have until the end of today to follow the easy-peasy steps to get registered to win!! And it's WAY easy.
In fact, "Lydia Love Petals" is sitting right here WAITING for her new hugger, toter, mommy-person to have his or her address written on the box and be put into the mail!
(I'd love to see some comments/registered from people I know as well as all the people who are just finding out about Lydia Love for the first time.)

And if you want to order a Lydia Love of your very own I would love to make one for you as well! Details are on my Ruffled Feathers Company website. Just email me or leave me a comment and we'll chat about the details.

ALSO, I want to mention that ALL orders that are made for anything through Ruffled Feathers Company will have 10% donated to The Sparrow Fund through the end of today as well!!

Mother's Day--Red Envelopes for Alea

Mother's Day just passed ... and one of the best things I received this year was a gift bag (with tissue and all the works) that contained 3 beautiful, hand-picked ... rocks!

I love rocks, and I love that my 3 boys all took the time to not only know that, but to pick out 3 special ones just for me. I love my boys--they are truly the BEST ...

And when I think about them I think about what an honor it is for me to be a mom. I am truly so blessed.
There is the coolest fundraiser going on for a little girl who doesn't have a mom or dad.
She also has a failing liver. HOWEVER ... she is in good hands. And it looks like she may be receiving a donor liver soon. Something unheard of where she is right now. It's literally ... a miracle.
BUT, surgery isn't free. They are raising funds to pay for this life-saving surgery, and it is not just a donate by clicking on a button kind of a thing. They have Red Envelopes (which have very special symbolism in China) numbered from 1-500. You choose which envelope you'd like to sponsor (and it can be a combination if your exact amount has already been taken--Example: you want to donate $52. You could choose the envelope #52 ... OR you might consider the #50 envelope and the #2 envelope ... or the #20 envelope and the #32 envelope--catching on?)

You can go here to find out more and to access the envelopes. Only SIXTEEN people have donated so far! And there are so many low number envelopes still available! -- Well, make that 17 because I'm headed over there next.

There is also a bit of a reward chance for you if you share this via a blog post or fb link! Check it out!

The Sparrow Fund: My Hope is in Him, A Challenge

I am so excited to be partnering with the nonprofit The Sparrow Fund this month through my store, Ruffled Feathers Company. We are donating 10% of all our sales this month to The Sparrow Fund along with 58 other businesses (click HERE to see them all)
I wanted to be sure to be a part of it all too on the front end as a purchaser and I found the PERFECT thing for my newly painted kitchen at Hidden In My Heart

Oh goodness--Did you notice the little polka-dot heart wing on the birdie and its striped legs? My heart is skipping beats again!!

Until tomorrow night, we have a very special challenge in front of us that I want to share with you. An adoptive mom wanted to do something creative to support this nonprofit and their efforts this month to Build the Nest. And, she posted a blog entry today with that challenge -- for everyone who comments there with their first name, the store name where they shopped, and the total amount spent -- Leah will MATCH dollar for dollar in a donation directly to The Sparrow Fund up to $1,000! So, if you make a purchase through Wednesday, not only will 10% of your purchase go to The Sparrow Fund, you can make that 110% simply by commenting on her blog!

Consider being a part of this challenge! Come on over to  Ruffled Feathers Company or one of the other 57 store and make a purchase. Then, simply go make sure Leah knows you did by commenting on her blog post (CLICK HERE) with your first name, our store name, and the total amount of your purchase with us. We want to make sure that at least $1,000 worth of sales named in those comments so we can get The Sparrow Fund this donation. And, we only have 1 more day to do it!

Thank you so much! Oh yes, and I'm headed over right now to leave a comment to the post on my purchases!

And, here's the direct link again to all the partners -

Lydia Love

Introducing ... a new line ... "Things Knot Seen"
this is:
Lydia Love!

She's a little bit shy, but oh so cuddly!
Bound to be one of your best-buddies ...
From her cotton knot-tied pony-tails to her pigeon toed feet, she's soft, one-in-a-million sweetness.

Each doll is approximately 14" tall and has Sunny-Happy-Skies Panda Fabric torsos and a coordinating, removable cotton skirt.

Her eyes are brown and these three gals have a glint of Asian in them. (Dolls can also be custom made with round embroidered eyes as well in any color.) Lydia's hair is styled into cotton knot pony tails decorated with ribbons.

Her right leg has her very own heart-circle-stamp. It's just up high enough to be hidden by her skirt but close enough to remind you how much you are loved in a heart-beat.

Eyes, nose and other facial features are hand embroidered for one-of-a-kind beauty.
Currently there are three sisters waiting for homes: Lydia Love Red, Aqua and Rose

This is Lydia-Scarlet Red
This is Lydia-Aqua Blue Swirls

 This is Lydia-Rose

Email me at almquist  at  fmtcs  dot   com  (replacing the "at" and "dot" with the symbols and deleting the spaces in the address) if you'd like to buy any of these sweeties OR if you'd like to order one especially made for you. They are all individually hand-made and embroidered and sweetly priced at $35 each (plus $6 shipping.)

AND remember, all sales from Ruffled Feathers Company through the month of May will donate at least 10% of the sale to The Sparrow Fund!!

A war in my living room ...

There I was, enjoying my morning ... and
A war broke out ...
right in front of the toy work bench!

The lines were drawn and the enemy advanced ...

And I have absolutely no clue how to play "war" in case you are wondering. Nolan figured this out pretty quick ... but he was pretty impressed when I called one weapon a "bazooka" though. (I was referring to the thing-a-ma-bob in the above picture in the yellow guy's hand.) I'm really glad he still believes that I know what I'm talking about ;-) -- even if I don't.
*Just a note: We inherited the little green plastic war men/tanks from my nephew ... the interest in it has arisen from the box of goodies we're packing for a family friend who is currently serving in Afghanistan.

And just in case you worry that there is too much testosterone running through this house ... okay ... yes there is.
I'm hanging on by a thread and by the help of chocolate.
Nolan also helped me whip up a batch of "Puppy Chow Chex Mix" also for the goodie box headed into a war zone.
I really need to get him an official apron. And it better be chocolate colored judging from the look of this dish towel make-shift apron.
Speaking of which, did you know that Scarlet Threads has a Mother's Day sale going on RIGHT NOW?! There is a 25% discount ALL month this May!! Use code: "mothersmay"

P.S. There is also still time to enter the FREE giveaway listed in the post below! Enter now!
